Do most cops and military people see themselves as superheroes?

Military people and cops (especially cops) seem to have this idea in their head that they are Captain America or something, and they are saving the world from evil, defeating one "bad guy" at a time. If you ever watch the show "Cops" or "PolicePOV" or spoken to one of them, or read their facebook page, or even listened to them on the news then you know what I am talking about. Do they think of themselves as heroes? I was in the military, so I am not anti-miltary, but it is just sort of annnoying to me when these people (cops and military) think they are the bravest, toughest person in the world.
